Emma McClure’s work relies on her delightful sense of observation. She will see an incident such as geese on the pond and through her marvellous grasp of form and pattern extract the essential character of the birds. In her latest series of work she has visited many of the small city farms in London.

These small oasis’s often sandwiched between massive tower blocks caught her imagination through their delightful animal inhabitants and the contrast they offer with the traditional life of the city. Growing up in Cornwall her work is strongly influenced by the St Ives school in particular Ben Nicholson and William Scott with their strong sense of design and pattern and disregard of academic conventions. |
