Oona Campbell

Oona Campbell spent her child hood holidays in Scotland and returns several times a year to paint the landscape here.  In this most recent group of work she paints in Argyllshire and the Hebridean islands of Skye and Mull.  She follows the British, romantic tradition of the artist on tour seeking inspiration in the grand majestic forces of nature but returning home to the studio, in her case in London, to work on paintings which are not topographical but a distillation of memory, emotion and experience.

Her interest in the landscape lies in the way it is changed and transformed by the weather.  The scenery in these works is never static, we feel we are in a very powerful and evocative place; there is a sense of wilderness, of forces still untamed.
